Cody has collaborated with many artists and filmmakers to tell engaging stories. His discipline, approachability, and attention to detail form a compelling collaborative process that meets deadlines and impresses audiences.
From costume designers and visual effects artists to musicians and sound designers, he has worked extensively with George Frangadakis, Ryan Zum Mallen, Steve Olson on many short films, and recently, Andrea Carsenzuola on Burn in Flame. Cody also attended USC for a semester honing his storytelling abilities and working with award-winning faculty. His passion and insight helped him and other students complete three short films.
My passion for storytelling through film evolved without consciously recognizing it. My great-grandmother was a native Alaskan
who had an incredible memory and extraordinary storytelling abilities. Her journey, rich history, and stories are a tremendous inspiration as they have been passed down to three generations.
Each summer, I would travel to Alaska and return with hours of adventure footage, and thanks to my dad,
I had access to an 8mm MiniDV camcorder and a laptop to edit a short recap.
The early technical training created a comfort level around cameras and non-linear editing, allowing me to experiment with different effects, styles, and later, narrative storytelling.
Although my passion for the outdoors inspires my creativity, it is not the only driving force. I find the way people interact fascinating, which inspired me to work on a short film called Textopia. A story based on a society where speaking is now forbidden and only texting is allowed. I was fortunate to work as the cinematographer and editor; this short film was integral to my creative growth and inspired some of my most recent short films.
Simply put, I am a motivated filmmaker who wants to collaborate with others to tell interesting and exciting stories that move people to think while being entertained.
